Hosts – How to manage your pricing, fees and discounts

Learn how to set your nightly rates, add fees, offer discounts and manage additional charges for your homes.

Written by Product Team

You can manage your pricing and additional charges for each of your homes directly from your Plum Guide Host Dashboard.

In this guide, we'll cover:

  • Nightly and weekend rates

  • Cleaning and additional guest fees

  • Custom prices for specific dates

  • Discounts

  • Security deposits

  • Additional services

1. Set your nightly rates and additional fees

Your nightly rates and additional charges determine how much you receive for each booking. You can set these individually for each of your homes.

Nightly rate

This is your standard price per night, before any additional fees are added. Your base nightly rate should match the price you offer on other booking platforms or your own website.

Weekend rate

You can charge a different nightly rate for Friday and Saturday nights. For example, if your home is in higher demand at weekends, you might set a higher weekend rate while keeping your standard nightly rate for the rest of the week.

Cleaning fees

You can add a fixed cleaning fee to cover the cost of preparing your home for each stay. This is a one-off charge per booking, regardless of how many nights guests stay or how many people are travelling.

Additional guest fee

You can charge an additional fee per person, per night when the number of guests exceeds a limit you choose. For example, if you set a fee of £10 per additional guest after three guests, a group of six staying for four nights would pay:

  • 3 additional guests × £10 = £30 per night

  • £30 × 4 nights = £120 in additional guest fees

How to update your rates and fees

  1. Go to Listings and find the home you would like to update.

  2. Select Manage → Pricing → Rates & Fees.

  3. Enter your chosen rates and additional charges.

  4. Save your changes.

Good to know: If your pricing is connected through Price Sync or an API integration, synchronised rates will override prices you enter manually. However, you should still maintain your base nightly rate and discounts in your dashboard to help keep your pricing accurate.

2. Set custom prices for specific dates

You can set a different nightly price for individual dates or a specific date range.

Want to charge more during a popular event or offer a lower rate during quieter periods? You can set custom nightly prices for individual dates or date ranges directly from your calendar.

A custom price replaces your usual nightly or weekend rate for the selected dates.

How to add a custom nightly price

  1. Go to Listings and find the home you would like to update.

  2. Select Manage → Availability → Calendar.

  3. Select the date you'd like to update, or drag across the calendar to select multiple dates.

  4. Enter your new nightly price.

  5. Select Save.

You can repeat this for as many dates or date ranges as you need.

3. Offer discounts to attract more bookings

Discounts can help you encourage early bookings, fill last-minute availability and attract guests looking for longer stays.

There are five discount types available:

  • Early bird: Reward guests who book more than 90 days before check-in.

  • Last minute: Encourage bookings made less than five days before check-in.

  • Weekly stay: Offer a discount for stays of seven nights or more.

  • Monthly stay: Offer a discount for stays of 28 nights or more.

  • Custom: Create a discount for stays within a date range you choose, with a minimum length of stay you set.

You can apply each discount to a single home, a selection of homes or all your homes.

How to set up a discount

  1. Go to Discounts.

  2. Find the discount you'd like to offer and select Set up.

  3. Enter your discount and choose which homes it should apply to.

  4. Select Save.

To change or remove an existing discount, return to the Discounts page and select Edit next to the relevant discount.

Good to know: Some discounts can apply together on the same booking, while others cannot. See our guide to setting up and managing discounts to understand how they work together.

4. Set a security deposit

A security deposit helps protect you against the cost of guest damage beyond normal wear and tear.

You can choose the deposit amount for each home. Bear in mind that setting a particularly high deposit may discourage guests from booking.

How to add or update a security deposit

  1. Go to Listings and find the home you would like to update.

  2. Select Manage → Booking policies → Security deposit.

  3. Enter the amount you'd like to set.

  4. Select Save.

What happens if a guest causes damage?

If you need to make a claim against the security deposit, contact our Host Care Team at hosts@plumguide.com.

Important: Any damage must be reported within 48 hours of the guest checking out.

5. Offer VIP services to your guests

Make your guests' stays even more memorable by offering optional services and experiences.

Depending on what you can provide, these might include:

  • Airport transfers and taxi bookings

  • Daily cleaning and laundry services

  • Fridge stocking

  • Private chefs and in-home massages

  • Babysitting

  • Concierge services and luggage storage

  • Restaurant reservations, tickets and experiences

How VIP services work

When a guest requests one of your services, they'll let Plum Guide know.

We'll charge the guest and notify you of the request, giving you time to arrange the service.

The amount will be included in your booking payout, and Plum Guide does not charge any fees on VIP services.

How to add additional services

  1. Go to Listings and find the home you would like to update.

  2. Select Manage → Property details → VIP Services.

  3. Choose the services you can offer from the available options.

  4. Select Save.
